Small Projects

This section focuses on small projects or elements of design within larger projects. Typically, before and after photos are taken to show the changes.

The following was built from scratch - carving space from a closet and an older bath area.

The kitchen was created from a space in the same area as the previous kitchen but made larger. Additional pictures in the Heather Ave. folder. The restored stove sits in an alcove with a vaulted ceiling. A rather large in-line, variable speed ventilator sits above the vault to vent the cooking vapors outside. Hand made tiles decorate the back splash and walls.

Bath remodel: - enlarge existing bath.

Note: new deeper tub and niche for shampoo.

View of completed tile work: travertine with glass tile inlay. Cabinet by GCC. Later views to come for glass shower door and finish accessories.

Another bathroom: Altadena, CA: modify existing bathroom and other aspects of house (2nd
bath, fireplace). Reframe ceiling and roof for skylight and lighting, new windows and plumbing for fixtures. Shower has entire area covered with Travertine for a steam room with pull down benches. Benches hang on wall.

Soaking tub with travertine surround.

Design/build cabinet and mirror to fit available space. Travertine chair rail and wall tile envelopes cabinet and backsplash for sink, around through to the tub and shower areas. The smallest bathroom ever worked on: so small picture could not reveal the shower to the left no the corner toilet to the right - all remodeled and nicely done in travertine as well - note mirrored frame of travertine over (tiny) sink: also shop built and installed.

Fireplace was removed and replaced due to fire hazard: previous contractor had built unit over combustible materials (wood) and placed wood in the fire hazard area next to the fire pit area: replaced with all noncombustible materials and placed mantel to compliance with codes.

Completed in 2004.

Upstairs Remodel - Cerritos: Part of this project was blowing out 2 bathrooms and redesigning them. Since they were both small and floor plan changes made no sense fiscally, we came up with these updated versions.

Guest Bath:

Used existing bath vanity cabinet, plus the door from the master bath cabinet for the above-toilet cabinet (new).

Italian porcelain tiles, Kohler curved tub, chrome fixtures.

Master Bath: we removed the same fiberglass tub and stock particle board vanity cabinet for new veined travertine, same tub, and oil-rubbed bronze fixtures. New cabinets of stained alder with maple interiors.
